Park went 2-1 in the Suburban East Conference softball wars last week, downing Irondale and East Ridge while falling at home to top-ranked Forest Lake.
The Wolfpack stand 4-4 on the season and in the SEC, currently tied for fourth place in the conference.
Forest Lake, Rosemont and Stillwater are the top three teams in the latest Metro softball poll.
Park is slated to play Wednesday at Woodbury (4-4, 4-4), Friday at conference leaders Cretin-Derham Hall (8-1, 9-1) and then host White Bear Lake (8-1, 8-1) on Monday, May 6.
Park 10, Irondale 0

The Park Softball team brought the bats and Mackenzie Darsow brought the arm, as the Wolfpack put a 10-0 whooping on visiting Irondale in six innings Monday, April 22. Darsow, who finished with eight strikeouts, went the distance giving up only two hits over six innings of work. Lauren Osland led the way for Park’s hitters going 2-for-3, with two doubles, two runs scored and two runs batted in.

Forest Lake 10, Park 4
Top-ranked Forest Lake Rangers came to Cottage Grove Wednesday, April 24, and at least for the first few innings, it looked like the young Wolfpack team would pull off the upset. Park pushed the first runs across when Grace Conaway walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, then scored on Darsow’s double. They added two more runs when Addie Corkish doubled to lead off the third inning, advanced to third on Ava Youngquist’s single, then both runners came across the plate when Conaway smacked a double to center field.

Darsow was again in the circle for the Wolfpack and although she gave the Ranger hitters fits, it wouldn’t last long as Forest Lake scored seven runs across in the middle innings to end up winning the game.

“I thought Mack pitched very well,” said Park coach Bob Loshek. “She kept the ball out of the middle of the plate, she got some calls, then didn’t get a few. She would make a great pitch and they would hit bleeder after bleeder. I got to say this, they kept coming after her, and she did the same to them, where she wouldn’t quit. These are the games that will help her grow as a player and make her better as her career goes along.”

Park 7, East Ridge 3
Park and East Ridge moved their Friday afternoon affair up a day due to Mother Nature bringing rain into the forecast and the Wolfpack didn’t disappoint as they wrapped up the week going 2-1 with a 7-3 win over the Raptors.

Ava Youngquist took the ball for the Wolfpack in the circle and threw all seven innings giving up only three runs on four hits, while striking out seven. Leading the way for Park’s hitters was Grace Conaway, who went 4-for-4, including a three-run home run that put the game out of reach. Other Wolfpack hitters with multiple hits were Addie Corkish, Youngquist, Keira Brennan and Briana Lee.
