Cottage Grove Post Office offers free holiday coloring supplies for kids

Career and job opportunities to mom and dad

It’s not a contest, but if you’re young and into coloring the post office at 7523 95th Street South has an opportunity for you. In case mom and dad are interested, there are also job opportunities in the postal service at present.

Back to coloring for a stretch.

The Cottage Grove Post Office is once again offering a coloring opportunity for young visitors to the Post Office. Made available each year as something for kids to do while they’re in the lobby, there is no contest—so let your creativity flow!

Complete with a space for the artist’s name, there are at least four main designs to choose from: A postal carrier delivering to Santa with elves singing in the background, another carrier delivering to mail as a kid plays outside in the snow, Santa and some elves at the clerk’s desk making known they want to ship items from the 12 days of Christmas and a delivery carrier making a wreath delivery with leaf-bare trees and no snow in the background (!).

But while snow-free Christmases are generally relegated to destinations farther south (where it’s warm), kids can pick up their crayon packet with green, yellow, blue, and red along with some coloring paper throughout this holiday season. After they’re done, parents can hang the coloring on the fridge at home. So what about job opportunities for mom and dad?

For those, readers can head on down to www. usps.com and click on “careers” in the lower left hand corner of the home page. Those who may not have internet access can find this at their local library.

Among the jobs listed down at www.usps.com in “careers” are those of Motor Vehicle Operator, Tractor Trailer Operator, Automotive Technician, and Lead Automotive Technician, all under “drivers & mechanics.”

For sales and service opportunities, applicants can apply to be a PSE Sales & Service/Distribution Associate, while those interested in sorting and handling can check out the roles of Mail Handler Assistant and PSE Mail Processing Clerk.

Finally, those seeking postings with the more familiar delivery end of the postal service can apply to be a City Carrier Assistant, Rural Carrier Associate, or Assistant Rural Carrier. Rain, snow, sleet, hail—nothing stops the (adequately staffed) U.S. Mail. A written postal exam also applies.
