Breck rallies past Park in boys’ hockey

After being shutout through two periods, Breck scored three goals in the third to rally past Park for a 3-2 win in boys hockey Monday at the National Sports Center.

Playing in the Herb Brooks Classic, Park took a 1-0 lead in the second period on a goal by Brady Strand.

Breck even the game at 1-all just 32 seconds into the third period. Noah Janski scored on an even strength goal to regain a lead for Park at 4:21 in the third period. But Breck powered in a pair of goals in the next four minutes to regain the lead and held on for the win.

Alex Hardin stopped 24 of 27 shots in goal for the Wolfpack.

Park slipped to 3-4 on the season. Senior forward Samuel Janski had a hat trick as the host Park Wolfpack skated past visiting Spring Lake Park 6-4 Tuesday, Dec. 21.

Janski scored on a first-period power play to open the scoring with a goal just 2:59 into the game. The wolfpack added two more goals in the first period on scores by Colton Porter and Nathan Donlon.

On a tear, Janski scored twice more in the second period to give Park a 5-3 lead.

Brady Strand added the final tally of the night for the Wolfpack with a goal 14:36 into the third period.

Jackson Rudh had an impressive four assists to lead Park., Janski and Brady Strand added two assists apiece, while Mac Wonoutka, Michael Schult, Lucas Chilton, Vincent Lucio had one each.

Jonah Frost got the win in goal.

Park (3-4, 0-2) plays Irondale (0-6, 0-2) Saturday, Jan. 8, back in the National Sports Center.

Park wrestlers edge Eastview

Park had six pins and a major decision to edge Eastview 40-39 in the Eastview Invitational Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Winning by falls for the Wolfpack were: Zach Carr (106), Zach Silvis (120), Joey Chilton (126), Gunnar Mullen (132), Leroy Olson (138) and Samuel Lankow (160). Will Deutsch scored a major decision at 145 pounds.

There were 11 pins in the match, six by Park and five by Eastview.

Eastview hammered East Ridge 72-12 in another matchup in the meet.

Park was eighth in varsity jazz and ninth in high kick in a Suburban East Conference meet at Irondale Wednesday, Dec. 22.

Park scored 25 points in the jazz competition. The Wolfpack tied for eighth in high kick but finished ninth after the tiebreaker was applied.

Forest Lake won both divisions.

Park tumbles in girls’ hockey

Host Bloomington Jefferson scored a 4-0 win Tuesday over the visiting Park Wolfpack in girls hockey Wednesday night at Bloomington Ice Garden.

Park managed just a dozen shots on goal and none reached the back of the net.

Park goalie Tori Stepka stopped 25 of the 29 shots she faced.

Park (5-5) at Burnsville (6-4-1) Monday. Burnsville Ice Center, Civic Center Parkway.

Park plays Hastings in the second round of the Burnsville tournament Tuesday.
