Maxine Phila Nielsen, age 87, of New Richmond died on Dec. 23, 2021 at Deerfield Senior Living. Max was born on April 20, 1934 to Harry and Phila (Richards) Deal at her family homestead in Kinnickinnic Township, St. Croix County. She attended River Falls High school graduating with the Class of 1953. Later in life, Maxine married the love of her life Merle Nielsen on November 2, 1969 at the Congregational Church in River Falls, Wisconsin.
Max was someone who enjoyed spending time with her family and was extremely proud of them too. She loved to go camping with family and friends, dancing and especially long snowmobiling rides. Max took joy in being host and feeding anyone who came through her door. She would never eat until she knew that everyone had enough to eat. Max will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Her loving children survive Maxine: Diane Fisher, Mike (Barb) Fisher, Tom (Vickie) Fisher, Matt (Angie) Nielsen, Echo (Steve) Kraft; son-inlaws: Kemp Terry, and Randy Bauer; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Nielsen; parents, Harry and Phila Deal; first husband, Duane Fisher; children, Dawn Terry, and Teddi Bauer.
A funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021 at O’Connell Family Funeral Home, 225 S. Third St. River Falls, WI 54022. A visitation was prior to the service. Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls. Pallbearers were Dale Merrell Jr., Aric Koehler, Michael Fisher, Sam Reznicow, Noah Reznicow, Luke Jensen. Honorary Pallbearer is Ethan Reznicow. Funeral Services were entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls.
