Students named to UW-Stout men’s track and field team MENOMONIE, Wis. (April 21, 2022) – The following students have been named to the University of Wisconsin-Stout 2021-22 men’s track and field team.

Students named to UW-Stout softball team The following student has been named to the University of Wisconsin-Stout 2021-22 softball team.

Kaylee Peterson, senior, Business Administration and Supply Chain Management, East Ridge, Outfield The head coach is Chris Iliopoulos. This is his fifth year with the program.

Local Student Participates in Mock Trade Show at Bemidji State University On April 20 Bemidji State University students held a mock trade show where they pitched their original product ideas to local entrepreneurs and members of the Bemidji community.

Students hailing from the area presented a variety of projects with a team of peers. The event was held at Bemidji, Minnesota’s, entrepreneurial support center, the LaunchPad, and included Reegan Goulding of Woodbury Minnesota. Goulding is a sophomore business administration major at Bemidji State.

Though normally an annual event, this year’s trade show was the first since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019. Dr. Angie Kovarik, assistant professor of business administration, said the event is an opportunity for students to showcase their original product ideas using marketing concepts.

“The mock trade show benefits students by giving them networking and presentation experience,” she said. “It helps them hone in on soft skills.”

Student groups also engaged in a friendly competition sponsored by Entrepreneur Meet-Up members for best presentation.

The Sip Saver, a bracelet that can detect if your drink has been spiked with a drug, received the Best Overall award. The product idea was developed by Macy Strandlien, a marketing communication freshman from Shevlin, Minnesota, Spencer Shaver, an exercise science junior from Savage, Minnesota, and Daeja Nylund, a business administration freshman from Baxter, Minnesota.

“The Sip Saver is a bracelet for men and women that helps reduce drug-induced sexual assault,” Strandlien said. “We wanted to create something that was very practical and discreet – available for everyday use so you never forget it.”

• Minnesota State University, Mankato Awards 2,797 Degrees at End of Spring Semester Minnesota State University, Mankato awarded 2,797 degrees to 2,467 students at the end of the spring 2022 semester.

Commencement ceremonies were held Friday, May 6 at 3 p.m. for the College of Business and at 5:30 p.m. for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Commencement ceremonies were held Saturday, May 7 at 9 a.m. for the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, at 11:30 a.m. for the College of Education, at 2 p.m. for the College of Allied Health and Nursing and at 4:30 p.m. for the College of Arts and Humanities.

Degrees awarded at the undergraduate level included 55 bachelor of arts degrees, 23 bachelor of business administration degrees, two bachelor of applied science degrees, 38 bachelor of fine arts degrees, 1,847 bachelor of science degrees, 46 bachelor of science in civil engineering degrees, 19 bachelor of science in integrated engineering degrees, 14 bachelor of science in computer engineering degrees, 17 bachelor of science in electrical engineering degrees, 34 bachelor of science in mechanical engineering degrees, 48 bachelor of science in social work degrees, 28 associate of arts degrees and 112 undergraduate certificates.

Undergraduate students receiving recognition included 385 students graduating summa cum laude (3.8 grade point average and higher), 316 students graduating magna cum laude (grade point averages of 3.6 to 3.79) and 317 students graduating cum laude (grade point averages of 3.4 to 3.59).
