Strawberry Fest might be over, but there’s more fun to come.

Kicking off this July 4 with food available beginning at 5:30 p.m., an Independence Day celebration with fireworks put on by the Cottage Grove Lions will take place at Kingston Park. Skip the potential ticket for lighting off your own and head on over to Kingston for the show. The light show begins at dusk.

Also taking place in Cottage Grove in the near future for a good cause is a blood drive put on by the City July 7 at the HERO Center. The goal is 100 donors, with those who give blood receiving a free water bottle in appreciation. Readers can sign up at Red-CrossBlood.org, with keyword City of CG.

Meanwhile for family fun this summer, a Skoolie’s family Fun Night will be held each Thursday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Armstrong Elementary now through August 11.

Last but not least for those runners out there, the international fitness phenomenon called park run is now in Cottage Grove.

Held each Saturday at 9 a.m., runners should show up to Hamlet Park to participate, with questions answered via [email protected]
