Cottage Grove, Minnesota – Two residents won five categories in the 2022 Capture Cottage Grove Photo Contest, which is the twenty-first year this annual city contest has been held.
This year, there were five categories where the winner of each category would receive $75. The five categories were: wildlife and nature, celebrations and events, business, people, and city parks or landmarks.
The city received 124 photo submissions total, all of the photos taken within Cottage Grove city limits during 2022. Once the submission date closed, the photos were distributed to city staff who voted on a winner for each category. Photographers’ names were removed from photos so that voting could be unbiased. One photographer, Isaac Pavek, won three categories (wildlife and nature, celebrations and events, business) and another photographer, Julie Rowan, won the other two categories (people, city parks or landmarks).
Pavek and Rowan were recognized at a city council meeting on Dec. 21, 2022. They will receive checks at a later date with their winnings.
