NEWPORT– The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was found dead in the parking lot of a transit center Monday morning.
Just before 11 a.m., a call came into 911 reporting an unknown medical situation in the Newport Transit Center parking lot. Deputies arrived to find a deceased male slumped over the driver’s seat of an SUV. The man’s death is being investigated as a homicide; however, there is nothing at this time that indicates this was a random incident. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is on scene assisting.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the victim’s identity and exact cause of death. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Detective Sullivan at 651-430-7884.
