Corkish named Park boys hockey coach

Jeff Corkish has been hired as the new boys hockey coach at Park High School. He takes over for Jay Moser, who led the program for the past 17 years.

“I appreciate everything that Jay has done for our boys hockey program. He has put in a lot of time and energy for our student-athletes,” said Phil Kuemmel, Park Activities Director.

Corkish is returning to the role of head coach, having served as the leader of the Hastings High School girls program for 17 years. During that time, he was named the Section Coach of the Year three times. Corkish was voted into the MGHCA Hall of Fame in 2018. He is also very involved in the Cottage Grove Hockey Association, working with all levels of the youth program.

Corkish is owner of the Hwy 61 Hockey Academy and is a physical education and health teacher in the Hastings School District.

“We are very lucky to have someone with Coach Corkish’s resume to lead our boys hockey program,” said Kuemmel. “The experience that he brings as both a teacher and coach will benefit our program. Jeff realizes the importance of building relationships with his players and is also excited to continue building the program from the youth level on up. His purpose is to ‘coach student-athletes to help them develop great character, integrity and values so they can be world leaders,’ which will help Park’s student-athletes in both hockey and life.”

A “Meet and Greet” will be hosted by the Boys Hockey Booster Club at a date and time to be announced.
