Forest Bathing, a simple and therapeutic ancient wellness practice, is coming to Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park from 9-11 a.m. May 20. This guided experience is focused on absorbing nature by walking slowly and stopping often.
Participants will stroll down a paved trail allowing time to connect their senses to the healing beauty of Ravine Regional Park. This event is a captivating, meditative and relaxing experience, promoting a reduction in stress and anxiety while enhancing focus. There will be no strenuous movements or yoga poses and the event is accessible for anyone who has limited mobility.
Forest bathing, in Shinrin-yoku Japanese, is the activity of being in a forest to relax, popularized in Japan, according to Webster’s Dictionary. No physical bathing will take place; the practice is simply about inspiring people to spend time in nature.
Dress comfortably for a walk in the woods. Space is limited. Register online at www.co.washington.mn.us/3582/Forest-Bathing. Cost is $40/person each session. A Washington County Park vehicle permit is required ($7/daily or $30/annual).
This is an ongoing event. Upcoming dates are 8-11 a.m. June 10 at St. Croix Bluffs Regional Park, and 9-11 a.m. Oct. 14 at Lake Elmo Park Reserve.
