Shane Lawson Jacks, 42, Stillwater, was charged in Dakota County District Court on Friday, April 7 with felony theft by temporary control aggregating over $1,000 up to $5,000.

On Nov. 11, 2022, a report of theft by an employee was reported to the Inver Grove Police Department. It was reported that three pressure gauges were missing, and the tools could not be found. There were also instances of tools missing in the past and then being located later that were suspicious. Only three employees had access to the tools and the manager believed that one employee, Jacks, was responsible.

An investigation revealed all three pressure gauges were reported as pawned by Jacks. While reviewing Jacks’ pawn history, several other items of similar name brand or usage were noted. Upon review, it was determined that most of the items pawned had belonged to the company.

Video of the transactions was provided by one pawn shop confirming Jacks’ identity. When asked about the missing items, Jacks admitted to taking the items to pawn because of personal financial trouble. He said he was planning to return to pick up the items but had missed the deadlines on a few of them. Jacks agreed the tools were not his to pawn nor did he have permission to pawn them.

More than 12 items were stolen and pawned for around $14,000. Most of the items pawned were recovered. A court summons was issued.
