3rd annual Blizzard Bash slated for Feb. 17

Posted

Join Washington County Parks from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb.17 for Blizzard Bash 2024 at Ravine Regional Park. Winter family-friendly activities like snowshoeing, kick-sledding, and ice fishing demos are provided free of charge with purchase of a vehicle permit ($7/daily and $30/annual).
Blizzard Bash is a chance for the public to try a variety of winter recreation activities. According to Washington County Parks Coordinator Sara Armstrong, the Blizzard Bash highlights how much fun winter can be in Minnesota by providing different types of outdoor activities for the public to sample, which is something the community has specifically asked for. Bring the family and don’t miss out on the food trucks, outdoor activities, and bonfires. Snowshoes are free to use, and a kick-sledding demonstration will be provided.
Kick-sledding is an old Scandinavian method of winter transit. Armstrong described kick-sledding as “a cross between skis and a dog sled, but without the dogs. The kick-sled frame has a seat for carrying a passenger or gear and is on steel runners.”
Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park is located at 9653 Keats Ave. S. in Cottage Grove. For more information call 651-430-4300, or go to https://www.co.washington.mn.us/532/Programs-Events.
