Girls’ tennis

Park was so close to going to state in girls’ team tennis it hurt.

The Wolfpack dropped an agonizingly close match to top-seeded Simley in the Section 3AA finals at Fred Wells Tuesday, losing 4-3.

Park swept the doubles matches, but was blanked in singles.

The Wolfpack had chances, but couldn’t squeeze out a singles victory.

“The girls played amazing,” said Park head coach Tony Townsend. “I am so proud of their fight and determination. We played with so much grit and class. A fantastic year and incredible run in sections.”

Park’s Kate Townsend dropped a 5-7. 3-6 decision at No. 1 singles. Avrie Morris’s match at No. 2 singles was a heartbreaker as she lost 6-4, 2-6, 5-7. Dana Petrie fell 1-6, 3-6 at No. 3 singles and Grace Townsend lost 2-6, 2-6 at No. 4 singles.

Park’s doubles teams all won Tuesday. Abby Fjelsta and Hannah Holmgren won 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Park’s Luise Meier and Morgan Leick won at No. 2 doubles (6-4, 6-3) and Finley Leick and Jenna Mahnke won at No. 3 doubles (6-2, 7-6 (7-4)).

Seventh-seeded Park defeated 10th-seeded Rosemount (4-3), second-seeded Hastings (5-2) and third-seeded Visitation (4-3) to reach the section finals.

Individual sections start Monday.

Baseball

Park baseball standout Josh Hatano has committed to play baseball at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa, next season.

The Triton baseball team has 12 Region XI championships, nine Northwest/North Plains District titles, nine NJCAA World Series appearances and has 35 players playing professional baseball.

Hatano was a top hitter and infielder last season and helped the Wolfpack to a 22-8 record and a second-place finish at state last season.

Volleyball

After a challenging week with two conference losses, Park got back on track by going 3-1 in the Bloomington Jefferson Invitational Saturday.

Park defeated Big Lake 2-0, Glencoe-Silver Lake 2-1 and Mound Westonka 2-0. The Wolfpack dropped an 0-2 decision to Belle Plaine.

Park now stands 16-9 on the season and 4-4 in the Suburban East Conference. Park hosts Irondale (3-6, 178) in the regular season finale Tuesday.

Park had its hardest conference week of the volleyball season, losing both to Woodbury at home and to Forest Lake on the road in straight set losses.

The Wolfpack fell at Forest Lake Thursday, losing 25-21, 28-26 and 25-17.

Park dropped a match to visiting Woodbury Tuesday, Oct. 12, losing in straight sets, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-21.

Emma Slusser leads Park statistically with 288 kills. Camden Kemmet has 81, Kendall Lewis 76 and Audrey Sease 66. Addy Glide has 489 sets. Audrey Sease is the serve leader with a .962 percentage. On defense, Megan Husaby tops Park with 209 defensive stops while Lewis is the block leader.

Cross country

Park’s runners were idle this week with the SEC Championships set for Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Tanners Brook Golf Course In Forest Lake on Tuesday. Following that meet will be the Section 3AAA Championships at Apple Valley on Thursday, Oct.

Boys’ soccer

Park’s boys’ soccer season came to an end Tuesday, Oct. 12, with a 2-0 loss at Rosemount in the Section 3AAA quarterfinals.

Fifth-seeded Park ended the season 4-5-7.

Girls’ soccer

Visiting fifth-seeded Bloomington Jefferson knocked out host and fourth-seeded Park in a 2-0 decision Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Wolfpack Stadium in the Section 3AAA quarterfinals.

Park ended the season with a 6-11 record.

Girls swimming and diving Amber Norgaard and Ellen Jensen each won two events to lead Park in a girls swimming and diving home meet against Roseville Thursday Norgaard won the 200yard freestyle in 2:06.64 and finished first in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:42.50.

Jensen won both the 50yard freestyle (25.52) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.77).

Caitlyn Greenwalt won the diving with a score of 230.35.

Afton LeMay finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:17.02.

Park’s team of Norgaard, Arachi O’Brien, Alayna Faletti and Jensen won the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:56.25.

Park was third in the 200yard medley relay with the team of Zoe Pfeiffer, Afton LeMay, O’Brien and Kylie Dahm in 2:10.73. Park’s team of Faletti, LeMay, Jensen and Norgaard finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:46.94 LeMay was third in the 200-yard IM in 2:33.22. O’Brien was third in the 100yard butterfly in 1:11.22 and third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.28. Roseville won the meet 9684.

Football Park senior Treyton Bammert- Mueller has committed to playing football next season at Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Bammert-Mueller is a 6-5, 250-pound tight end/defensive lineman kicker and punter for the Wolfpack. On the season he has 27 punts for a 39.0 yards per kick average. He’s 1-for-1 on field goals this season and 21 of 27 on extra points.
