A SWCTC Casting Call Is “Seeking” Local Talent

Calling all thespians between the ages of 25 and 45! The South Washington County Telecommunications Commission (SWCTC) is searching for somebody to star in their next big film project that will magnify local businesses. The Journal spoke with SWCTC’s Government Producer, Justin Atkinson, to enlighten the public on this neat opportunity.

The SWCTC is a media channel that is located on Pine Arbor Drive here in Cottage Grove. They possess the role of creating content for the Cities of Grey Cloud Island Township, Newport, St. Paul Park, Woodbury and Cottage Grove. At this time, the commission is initiating a new project for Woodbury, specifically.

The project was designed with the motive of accentuating businesses residing in Woodbury through a series of videos. During each 10-minute episode, a “host” will attend one organization. There, they will pose several questions to the owners and employees. Beginning in March, these short films will premiere on cable channels. They will also appear on the City’s and SWCTC’s social media platforms.

As a producer for the SWCTC, Atkinson is facilitating auditions to cast the opening of the “host”. When one lucky auditioner receives the role, they would be expected to attend businesses in Woodbury with a technical crew. In addition, they would need to conduct on-camera interviews. In return for their contributions to each episode, they will be paid $250. However, money will not serve as the only benefit to this job. According to Atkinson, becoming the host would be a fantastic theatrical experience. “If actors audition they can use the episodes of the show on their acting resumes,” he suggested.

If one is drawn to potentially securing the role, there are a few steps they must take. First, they are to contact Atkinson via email: [email protected] swctc.org. They should attach an acting resume and a headshot in their message to him. Next, Atkinson will reply with additional information regarding their audition video. All entries are due by February 13th. Those who desire to audition will need to act promptly.

Due to the fact that the SWCTC will be issuing the role to only one person, some people may be rejected. However, they shall not feel discouraged. Each talent who submits an audition could be selected for other futuristic projects. Atkinson assured The Journal, “…we will put all of the recorded auditions on file for consideration of casting jobs in the future. We want to have the opportunity to work with local talent any way we can.”

The Journal hopes that each contestant would “break a leg”!
