TOWN OF CLIFTON – An Afton, Minn.,man died Friday morning as the result of a head-on crash in the town of Clifton, outside of River Falls, WI.
According to a Pierce County Sheriff’s Office report, the two-vehicle crash occurred at 11:41 a.m. May 21 on County Road F near County Road M. Officers received multiple reports of a 2016 Dodge Challenger driving erratically before the crash.
Ryan Murphy, 40, drove the Challenger left of the center line into the path of a northbound 2018 Mazda CX-5, driven by 61-year-old Susan Pierce of River Falls. Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene. Pierce was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with undisclosed injuries.
St. Croix Sheriff’s Office, River Falls Police, River Falls Fire, Allina Ambulance Service, Wisconsin State Patrol and Pierce County Highway Department assisted PCSO at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
