Basic Needs Thrift Shop is moving from St. Paul Park back to Cottage Grove and will be occupying Suites 200-240 in the mall anchored by Ace Hardware at 6990 80th St. S. The move has been happening for nearly two weeks and should be complete by Saturday, November 13, at which time the old store location will be closed for good.
The move puts them in a more central location to help St. Paul Park and Cottage Grove. It also gives them a ton of retail and office space to work with. As with any move, there are always hiccups and a ton of moving pieces, so the plan is to open the new retail space on Black Friday to shoppers and donations will be taken at the new location by the time you read this, they are opening donations up on Wednesday, November 10.
Basic Needs is involved in much more in the community than can be listed here: Growth for Good Community Garden, Tools for Teacher drive, Trunk N Treat 2021, Attend and participate on panel discussions about the needs of the community, Weekly Senior Morning Social, Monthly Saturday Suppers, The Little Pantry, Free Bread Program, Participate in the Wednesday weekly car show, Summer Bike Safety Event, and more.
Basic Needs supports the community in ways that are not measured in thrift store sales, and they are always looking for volunteers and donations. You can learn more about volunteer opportunities at www.basicneedsthriftshop. org.
