Winter is cold, but for those seeking a reason to get outdoors, there will be Blizzard Bash February 19 at Ravine Regional Park, put on by Washington County Parks staff, followed with an Interpretive Snowshoe Hike on Saturday February 26 from 1 to 3 p.m.
One of six regional parks located within Washington County, Ravine Regional Park consists of 515 acres with a lake, hills, trees, and the occasional field or prairie clearing along its namesake ravine.
Held February 19, the Blizzard Bash will include ice fishing demonstrations along free snowshoe use (limited supply), kick-sledding lesson, a winter story stroll, bonfire, and food trucks.
The event is free with a vehicle permit, cost of said permit being $7 daily or else $30 annual.
Should you miss the Blizzard Bash or just want another reason to come back, an Interpretive Snowshoe Hike will take place on Saturday February 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Ravine Regional Park as well. Those taking part will get the opportunity to come and explore the winter landscape at Ravine Regional Park while also learning to recognize different trees, tracks, and animal migration patterns in the winter. The Interpretive Snowshoe Hike event is recommended for ages 18 and older.
As to cost for the events, children’s tickets are $5 while adult tickets are $10. A limited number of snowshoes are available for rental as well.
Registration is required for the snowshoe hike, with the opportunity provided via link at the county website at www.co.washington. mn.us/parks following the typing of “Interpretive Snow Shoe Hike” in the search bar.
The registration link is embedded in event’s information text.
