Park senior Aidan Boche threw his way to a meet championship and into the school record books to lead the Wolfpack in the Mike Maher Invitational Thursday.
Boche threw the discus a personal best of 161-2, the fifth best throw in school history. He can now take aim at the school record of 183-11 set by Mike Edmunson in 1989. But Boche only needs a throw of 162-9 to move into second place on the all-time Park best list.
“All-state, go to state and perform the best I can,” said Boche when asked what his goals for the season were. “The school record for Park is 183-11, throwing a 184 and breaking that would be my ultimate goal.
“(I need) to get my technique down and speed it up, just get comfortable throwing at a higher speed and more velocity,” Boche said when asked what he needs to do as he chases the Park record.
Park has lots of other standout performances, notably from junior O’neal Attisso who won the high jump (5-8), long jump (18-8) and finished second in the triple jump with a personal best of 42-0. Attison is getting close to getting his name on the all-time Park best list as sixth best is 43-10.75 set just two seasons ago by David Ola-Kazeem. Attisso also finished sixth in the 800 in a time of 2:21.24.
Senior Pajyeeb Kong won the shot put (34-6) in a season best to lead the Park girls efforts.
