After a very tough stretch of nine straight losses, the Park Wolfpack won their second straight game Saturday afternoon with a tight 69-66 non-conference decision over visiting Minneapolis Roosevelt.
Park led 41-31 at the half, then held off Roosevelt after intermission for the win.
Senior forward Aaron Sandin scored 20 points to lead the Wolfpack. Justin Ebbers added 13 points and Peyton Faber 12.
The Wolfpack made hay at the three-point line in the game, hitting 14 of 39 three-point field goals attempted (35.9 percent) to just 6 of 21 for the visitors. Sandin drained 6 of 14 three-point field goals while Faber was 4 of 8.
Park also scored 20 points off of turnovers to just five for Roosevelt. Senior guard Brandon Bihm had six points, five rebounds, six assists, two deflections and two steals for the Wolfpack.
The Wolfpack improved to 8-10 on the season and stand 4-7 in the Suburban East Conference. Roosevelt dipped to 8-11 overall.
Park has two more home games on tap this week, hosting 20th-ranked St. Paul Central (16-2) on Wednesday, then entertaining White Bear Lake (4-12, 3-7) Friday in an SEC contest.
Park 64, Roseville 59
The Wolfpack snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 64-59 victory at Roseville Thursday in Suburban East Conference boys' basketball.
The win completed a season sweep of Roseville, as Park won the first game 76-63 back on Dec. 12.
Park used a balanced scoring offense with four players hitting in double figures led by junior guard Carter Coombs’s 17 points. Justin Ebbers had 14 points, Aaron Sandin scored 11 and Peyton Faber scored 10. Ebbers added 7 rebounds and 3 assists to his scoring total.
The Wolfpack won the rebounding battle 32-21, had more assists (14-11) and shot better from 3-point range (8 of 20 to 4 of 19 for Roseville).
Stillwater 61. Park 55
The visiting Stillwater Ponies took a 61-55 decision in SEC boys basketball Tuesday at Cottage Grove.
It was the ninth straight loss for the Wolfpack and seventh straight loss at home.
