To celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22, Washington County Parks will waive daily vehicle permit fees, granting free entry to all Washington County Parks, allowing for reduced or free access to organized activities available that Saturday.

Several options are available that day for residents interested in participating:

  • Get your fit on at Zumba in the Park from 10–11 a.m. at Ravine Landing Building in Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park. Come dressed to move and don’t forget your water bottle for this low and high intensity interval-style workout. The price is $10 per person. Space is limited, and online registration is required at co.washington.mn.us/ParksPrograms.
  • Join hiking enthusiasts for a fitness hike at Lake Elmo Park Reserve at 10 a.m., beginning at the Nordic Center Trailhead. Plan for a 3-mile/60-minute hike, enjoying the benefits of walking through the beauty of nature. It is suggested to wear layers and a good pair of shoes. No registration is required.
  • Toss the Frisbee at a portable 9-hole frisbee disc-golf course at the South Pavilion in Lake Elmo Park Reserve from noon to 6 p.m. Park staff will be on-site to provide an introductory lesson to the sport, and there will be a limited supply of discs for participants to borrow.
  • What better way to read a great book than to do it while taking a stroll at Big Marine Park Reserve? Join fellow book lovers for a Story Stroll from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. It will be a self-guided tour on a walking path that loops by the playground and picnic shelter. The book “How to Change a Planet” by Christina Soontornvat will be available starting April 20 and will run through the month of May.
