The public is invited to visit the Central Fire Station from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 for the annual Open House. This is a family-friendly event where participants can learn about the Cottage Grove Volunteer Fire Department and different fire prevention tips.
The open house is part of Fire Prevention Week, which begins on Oct. 8 and ends Oct. 14. This year’s fire prevention campaign slogan is “Cooking Safety starts with you. Pay attention to fire prevention.” Fire and EMS services will be providing their knowledge and education to the public during the open house and all week using this motto.
Meet with firefighters, climb aboard fire trucks, view kitchen fire demonstrations, take a station tour, hold a fire hose, and even take a sledgehammer at the whack-a-car. Hot dogs and chips will be available for purchase as well.
This once-a-year event is an opportunity to share information and educate both kids and adults about the important work that the public safety teams do in our Cottage Grove community.
