Presenting to the Council Dec. 4 at its regular meeting, Cottage Grove Community Development Director Emily Schmitz filled in the council on planned improvements at Park High School. Plans in the wake of the successful school district referendum include a new cafeteria and CTE space, with traffic adjustments to be made as well. A new traffic model will seek to add access off 80th Street South to improve traffic flow, with the drop off area for students to park being located in the back, bus traffic remaining in the front. School traffic under the plans would flow in part onto Ideal Avenue as opposed to directly onto 80th Street.
The project is due to use 78 percent brick, glazing, and stone, these being Class I materials required on commercial projects in the city. The city approved easements related to the project at the Dec. 4 Council meeting, a school representative also being present to answer council questions.
