Afton Minnesota was cheering for native Jessie Diggins last week, with road signs on the St. Croix Trail declaring the town’s support, along with a banner in the town square park. Diggins, a graduate of Stillwater High School, won a bronze medal in the cross country freestyle sprint event at the Beijing Olympics, finishing the event with a time of 3:12.84. Diggins earlier took home a gold medal 2018 Olympics at Pyeongchang, South Korea. Readers can follow Jessie’s journey at https://jessiediggins.com. Town square photo by Joseph Back.
