The City of Cottage Grove has announced that recent state bonding approved by the Minnesota Legislature has secured funding for a key portion of the long-planned 100th Street extension project. Long in planning, the project will streamline semi traffic and allow more development in the business park.
The funded phase at present includes the 100th Street extension itself, as well as the realignment of Miller Road and a temporary realignment of Innovation Road.
The city shared more in a post to social media on Monday.
“The City of Cottage Grove is pleased to announce that recent bonding approved by the State Legislature has secured the necessary funding for the upcoming 100th Street extension project,” it said. “This infrastructure improvement will include the 100th Street extension, the realignment of Miller Road, and a temporary realignment of Innovation Road. Construction for this phase is scheduled to begin in 2027 with a targeted completion date in 2028.”
Shared along with the post was a map of the realignment with an area highlighted in yellow corresponding to the realignment of 10th Street and Miller Road, both fully funded components scheduled for construction between 2027 and 2028.
An area highlighted in red on the image indicates a future road alignment when funding becomes available, including a permanent realignment of Innovation Road and the extension of the frontage road. Both the city of Cottage Grove and County are working together as they seek additional funding opportunities to move the red portion of the project forward.
“We appreciate the state's investment in our local infrastructure and remain committed to keeping our community informed as this project progresses,” the city said.
Once complete the road realignment will allow truck traffic to exit Highway 61 at Keats Avenue and continue to the business park as well as opening additional area to development in the south business park.
