The Cottage Grove City Council approved a separation agreement with Senior Planner John Burbank at its Dec. 16 meeting.

According to the agreement, Burband is choosing to end his employment with the city.

The agreement states, “Employee hereby acknowledges and confirms he is separating his employment from Employer. Employee further acknowledges that he will be placed on paid leave effective Jan. 1, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2021. During the period of paid leave, Employee shall first utilize 200 hours of his accrued Annual Leave benefits and shall be paid the amount of $9,536 ($6.78 per hour x 200 hours Annual leave). When Employee’s accrued Annual Leave benefits are reduced down to 40 hours, he will be placed on paid administrative leave and will receive the amount of $63,620.80 paid biweekly until December 31, 2021. The $63,620.80 comes from one week’s pay multiplied by 32 years of service plus 80 hours of disability bank pay.”

Burband signed the agreement in November.
