Starting in 2014 with a call to the local paper and a Facebook page, the Cottage Grove Random Runners have been thriving ever since.
Just recently, the group held a fundraiser that ended up raising $900 for Basic Needs Food Pantry, off Jamaica Avenue.
Starting the fundraiser run Jan. 1 at 10:00 a.m. from Wahlburger’s in Cottage Grove, 45 runners taking part. After the run members stayed to enjoy breakfast and conversation at Wahlburger’s.
Random Runners is open to all who are interested in joining.
“Anyone can join,” spokesperson Carol DeBlieck said of the group. “We highly encourage folks from the surrounding area as it would be difficult to join events if you are many miles away. Joining events is not required. Many of our Facebook members simply use the page for encouragement.”
The group maintains a page on Facebook entitled “Cottage Grove Random Runners” with more information for those interested.
