Cottage Grove VFW Post 8752 baseball team built a big 13-0 lead after two innings and cruised to a 16-3 win over visiting New Richmond Friday, July 15.

“The nice thing is they’re even getting better, they’re a very coachable group of kids,” said coach David Darr. “They’re getting a lot better every game. There’s some physical talent here. There’s a lot of the mental stuff we’ve got to work on. They need to play more and see more situations and consistently guys are really starting to pick up on stuff.

“When we do our practices they’re very – they work. The kids are learning a lot and its’ fun to see that. It’s a good group of kids so it makes me pretty excited for next year that we will be able to plug some of these guys in and I think they’ll do OK for us. We’ll plug them in with the returning guys and I think we’ll be able to be a pretty solid team.”
