Washington County is seeking four community members to join its Climate Action Plan Community Advisory Group.
The Community Advisory Group will be composed of local government partners, community organizations, and individual community members to provide a wide range of perspectives during the development of the Climate Action Plan. This group will be involved at key stages throughout the planning process and will shape the plan’s priorities and recommendations.
The Community Advisory Group will involve four two-hour meetings throughout the Climate Action Plan project, anticipated between September 2025 and June 2026.
Community members interested in applying to join the group must complete a questionnaire by Aug. 6. The project team will select four community members to participate in the Community Advisory Group, seeking to balance a diversity of voices from across the county. All participants must:
• Live in Washington County from the time of application through at least June 30, 2026.
• Be at least 16 years old by Sep. 1, 2025.
Climate change will impact Washington County over the next century by increasing the average temperature, increasing the frequency of severe weather events, changing precipitation patterns, and numerous other effects that will impact community members and businesses.
Washington County’s Climate Action Plan will define the county’s role in climate action, outline action steps to reduce the county’s greenhouse gas emissions, and illustrate strategies to adapt to the impacts of climate change.
