Park senior Ashley Davis didn’t have a perfect night but was still close enough to dominate the competition Thursday as the Wolfpack hosted Mounds View/Irondale.
The Wolfpack won the meet with a score of 133.925 to 126.85 fir the visitors, Park’s best score by three points so far on the young season.
Davis completed a near sweep of the events, winning the vault (9.35), bars ((8.7), floor (9.275) and all-around with a score of 35.750. Only teammate Makayla Bollman’s 8.7 routine on the beam stopped her from going five-for-five.
Bollman had herself a meet as well, including a season best in the all-around. In addition to winning the balance beam, she was second in the all-around (34.6), second on the vault (9.025), second on bars (8.275) and fourth on floor (8.6).
“We’re improving, season high,” said Park head coach Ali Flaata. “And that’s the strategy. I think we’ve made a lot of improvements on vault and we’ve worked really, really hard on bars to just clean up connections, to not give away so many tenths on execution. So, I think both of those were a great improvement tonight.
Natalie Peters was seventh (23.675) in the all-around and Eleanor Thompson 10th (22.45).
“Individually Makayla had a great night,” Flaata added. “She’s not full strength on really anything yet but she’s taking those steps to get there so like we said by the end of the season she’s going to be really, really good. Ashley had some weird things, beam and bars a little bit but overall, a good solid meet for her. She’s very consistent. Natalie, she is putting the pieces together on every event too. We just have to clean up her skills a little bit and she’ll be there.”
On the vault, after Davis and Bollman, Audrey Reimers was seventh (8.175), Thompson eighth (8.125) and Peters 10th (7.95).
Peters was third on bars (7.7), Luella Erling eighth (7.6) and Thompson seventh (7.0).
Reimers placed sixth on the beam (7.825), Erling was seventh (7.775) and Thompson ninth (7.325).
Alice Wood finished sixth on the floor (8.35), Peters seventh (8.025) and Erling ninth (7.7).
