Park junior Ashley Davis won two events and the all-around and junior Makayla Bollman was second in the all-around, also with two event wins, to lead the Park High gymnasts in the season opener against visiting Roseville.

Park looked sharp in opener, outscoring Roseville 129.950 to 120.125 for an easy team win.

Davis (34.55) and Bollman (32.40) finished first and second in the all-around.

Davis also finished first on the vault (9.225) and beam (8.45). Davis’s vault score was the highest score in the meet.

Bollman won both the uneven bars (8.4) and the floor exercise (8.7).

Natalie Peters of the Wolfpack was seventh in the all-around, Clara Opichka 10th (14.90) and Isabelle Brown 11th (8.27.70).

“Overall, I think it was a good first meet, just to shake some nerves out,” said Park head coach Ali Flaata. “We didn’t really come in with any expectations, so it was a good first meet. It’s a good starting point and we have a lot to build from.

“Makayla came back after a year out and yea, there were a couple of mistakes here and there, but she did an awesome job tonight,” Flaata continued. “I’m very proud of her. We had a couple of our JV girls stay on the beam and just their confidence compared to last year you could tell that they belonged up there. So that was kind of fun to see. And then Kate came back in the lineup on bars after an ankle injury early on in the year and nailed her routine. And Ashley had an overall pretty good night. Just a couple mistakes but once she fixes those she’s going to be a top contender.”

On the vault, Bollman was fourth (8.35), Brown seventh (8.275), Peters eighth (8.275) and Audrey Reimers10th (8.2).

Davis was second on the bars (8.3), Kate Redmond fourth (7.575), Peters fifth (7.45) and Opichka sixth (7.45).

In the beam competition, Opichka was third (7.45), Bollman sixth (6.95) and Eleanor Thompson eighth (6.65).

Bollman (8.7), Davis (8.575) and Peters (8.225) went 1-2-3 in the floor exercise. Alice Wood was fifth (7.975) and Savanna Woulfe sixth (7.975).

Park fourth in Interstellar meet

Park’s Davis won both the bars and the floor competitions in the nine-team Interstellar Invite varsity meet Saturday at White Bear Lake.

Davis finished first on the floor with a score of 9.4 and won the bars event with a 9.1. She finished third in the all-around with a 35.9 and third on the beam (9.00). Davis scored an 8.4 on the vault.

Bollman was ninth in the all-around with a score of 34.35. Bollman was fifth on the floor (9.05), eighth on the vault (8.7), scored an 8.45 on bars and an 8.15 on the beam.
