Cottage Grove resident Paul Cumings officially launched his “Better Together” campaign for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 54A on December 7, 2021, with a kick-off event at the historic Croatian Hall in South St. Paul. Cumings is the first DFL candidate to announce his bid to represent Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, South St. Paul, and Grey Cloud Island in Minnesota House District 54A. He has 14 years of experience in state government and has devoted his entire life to public service as an innovator and connector, helping to craft policies and find solutions to move our state forward. Cumings currently serves as Executive Assistant to Minnesota House Majority Leader Ryan Winkler.

Cumings is committed to using his experience to find innovative and community- based solutions to issues impacting us all. “I will use my knowledge, experience, and relationships to serve the common good. I have great faith that when good people work together – across our differences – there’s nothing we can’t achieve for the betterment of our community,” Cumings stated. “Our Better Together campaign will be a people-powered movement where all are welcome. We will put kids first, fight to fully fund our public schools, prioritize clean water, and stand up for workers.”
