Washington County Parks will feature a Dia de los Muertos Celebración 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Lake Elmo Park Reserve Nordic Center.

The Dia de los Muertos Celebración will mark Washington County Parks’ first annual celebration of this vibrant holiday that falls on Nov. 1 and 2. This holiday is a time to reminisce about loved ones and wish them safe travels. The living are also celebrated with family traditions, such as baking pan de muerto and decorating calaveras de alfeñique (sugar candy skulls).

Join the group for traditional Latin and Hispanic music, day of the dead art activities, a bilingual (Spanish and English) story time, a hiking scavenger hunt, and hot cocoa.

The event is free, and no vehicle permit will be required for participants.

The Lake Elmo Park Reserve is at 1515 Keats Ave. N. in Lake Elmo, at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 10 one mile north of Interstate 94.
