According to MN State Patrol, a fatal accident occurred at 6:56 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening on Highway 61 south of Highway 95 at the intersection of 120th St. S and Highway 61. The accident had southbound 61 closed to traffic until just after 10:00 p.m. for State Patrol to investigate and recreate the scene.
The accident involved two vehicles, a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2006 Saturn Vue. The driver of the Vue, Lucas Matthew Hobbs, 19 of Eagan, was headed southbound on 61 toward Hastings. The driver of the Crusier, Jessica Ann Jackson, 51 of Woodbury, was headed east on 120th.
Jackson was attempting to make a left-hand turn from the stop sign at 120th to head north on 61 toward Cottage Grove when she was struck broadside by Hobbs.
Hobbs was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident and he was transported to Regina Hospital in Hastings for treatment of minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The report states that it is unknown if Jackson was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident and she died at the scene.
The report also states that Alcohol is not a factor in this accident.
