Friends of Grey Cloud launch petition over Mississippi Landings II

Group asks council, developer to ‘Leave A Better Legacy’ on riverfront area

Showing up to the Jan. 18 Plan Commission for public comment, Friends of Grey Cloud has now launched a petition asking the Cottage Grove Council and Rachel Development to reconsider riverfront housing plans.
Complete with suggested form letter and listed of reasons, the petition at www.friendsofgreycloud.org/petition seeks to influence events with regard to Mississippi Landings II, a housing development headed to council later this February.
Taking form over the last few years as residents first engaged, then felt rebuffed by the council, group members previously did a Change.org petition in August 2021 as another developer (Pulte Homes) sought to build on the former Mississippi Dunes golf course.
The city council later approved the plat for the Pulte development (called Mississippi Landings), prior to Pulte withdrawing its plans.
With a new developer seeking to build on the same footprint as Pulte at the old golf course property, the petition by Friends of Grey Cloud can be found at the group’s website, with Friends of Grey Cloud active on Facebook as well.
