The Washington County Historical Society is excited to announce a workshop with Lead Sheep Production’s Amanda Lathrop called “Getting Started in Genealogy” on Thursday, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Washington County Heritage Center (1862 Greeley St. S., Stillwater, MN 55082).
Are you interested in family history but are not sure where to start? Getting Started in Genealogy will show you how to ask the right questions, find and evaluate sources, use tools such as DNA, and organize and share your findings. Lathrop leads a one-hour introduction to genealogy full of stories, laughter, and fun with helpful tools to create a connection to your past.
After nearly a decade of working as a production coordinator for Minnesota local production companies and producing shows for television networks like History Channel, Food Network and Travel Channel, Lathrop was driven to start her own production company, Lead Sheep Productions, LLC.
Through producing a family history video for her own family, she combined her genealogy hobby with her professional video business. The opportunity allows her to use her skills to help people capture, share, and preserve their own stories.
The program is free to the public and will last approximately one hour. No reservations are required. The program will also be available through a live stream on the Washington County Historical Society’s YouTube page.
