The Wolfpack girl’s hockey season ended at the hands of Cretin-Derham Hall on Feb. 8. The lads made the road trip to the Charles M. Schulz-Highland Park Arena in St. Paul for the Section 3AA quarterfinal and were defeated by the Raiders 8-2.

The first period started with a balance of offense and defense from the Wolfpack, Natalie Post had the best scoring chance early in the game when she intercepted a pass at center ice which earned her a breakaway opportunity. Unfortunately, the shot did not go in and soon after the score was 3-0 Raiders. Park’s Lauren Osland scored with 1:42 remaining in the first period to cut the lead to 3-1. Sam Miller earned the assist on Osland’s goal.

Cretin kept up the high pressure attack scoring two more in the second period and one more half way through the third to go up 6-1. At 10:58 of the third, Osland logged her second goal, and unassisted, even strength goal, to cut into the Raiders lead, but Cretin responded with two more to finish the game and end the Wolfpack’s season at 9-15-2.

Cretin out shot Park 3123 and was 2-for-2 on powerplays while successfully killing two penalties. Both teams went to the box twice for four minutes total. Tori Stepka had the start in goal for the Wolfpack stopping 23-of-31 shots for a .742 save percentage.
