Girls lacrosse off to undefeated start

The Park girls lacrosse team started the season with a 3-0 record, including a 2-0 mark that puts them atop the Suburban East Conference.
The year started with a 13-2 win at Mounds View on Wednesday.
Madi Brinkman put in seven goals and was credited with one assist to lead Park. Josie Leonard scored three times and Maleah McMorrow twice. Sidni Gitzen also added a goal.
On Friday, Park played in front of a home crowd and defeated White Bear Lake 9-4 after jumping out to a three-goal lead in period one and stretching that to a 6-1 lead by the halfway point. Brinkman was credited with eight of the nine goals, with Gitzen adding one.
In the goal, Lauryn Ehrenstrom had four saves.
Brinkman scored three times to lead Park to a 5-2 win at home against Simley Monday. McMorrow and Kyra Stofer each also added a goal, and Ehrenstrom saved three of the five shots on goal from Simley.

The Park boys lacrosse team is off to a 1-3 start on the young season.
Park started off strong with a 19-5 win against Holy Family on April 14 in a match played at White Bear Lake Area High School.
The Wolfpack jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the first half and put Holy Family away with an eight-goal barrage in period two.
Angelo Cullen had six goals to lead the Wolfpack. Bradley Johnson scored four, while Zachary Devaan had three, Samuel Reckinger two and Jacob Czarnota, Samuel Franck and Blake Bestler had one each.
Gavin Sand played well defending the goal for Cottage Grove.
The rest of the week didn’t go as well for the Wolfpack, who dropped matches to Mounds View (18-4) on Wednesday and White Bear Lake (16-2) on Friday.
Monday, they traveled to Hastings. After a hard-fought match, Park fell 15-13.
Park was scheduled to host Forest Lake on Wednesday before traveling to Woodbury Friday. Matches are at 7 p.m.
