Park’s Shyanne Brooks scored in the second half off an assist by Lauren Tait as the host Wolfpack took a 1-0 non-conference decision from visiting Hastings Saturday in girls soccer.

“It’s always a great battle when we play Hastings.,” said Park head co-coach Stacy Paleen. “We were successful in neutralizing their leading scorer and played against a very strong wind in the first half. We were happy going into halftime 0-0.

“The girls played very hard and we were happy when sophomore Shyanne Brooks played a beautiful pass to Lauren Tait who buried it in the back of the net 10 minutes into the second half,” Paleen continued.

Goalkeeper Ainsley Lucus stopped all five Hastings shots Saturday for a perfect 1,000 save rate.

“Ainsley Lucas recorded another shutout, and we have adjusted defensively without Liya Bekele who tore her ACL a few weeks ago,” Paleen added. “The girls are really playing well together as we head into the final week of the regular season.”
