Learn to identify the birds of Washington County while immersed in the scenic backdrop of the Saint Croix Valley. Join both experienced and new birders for an alternating schedule of guided bird hikes throughout Washington County Parks starting May 13, at the Cottage Grove Ravine Regional Park from 9-10:30 a.m. The program is free with a Washington County Parks permit ($7/day or $30/year) and is open to all ages and abilities, including children accompanied by a parent or guardian.
According to Washington County Parks, “Participants can contribute to citizen science data collection by completing bird count surveys with your guide. The surveys collected will assist our natural resources team and related work in conjunction with the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Fund grant.”
Bring binoculars for optimal viewing. Dress appropriately for Minnesota weather and don’t forget your water bottle. Other suggested items to bring to prepare for a fun experience are sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, hiking or tennis shoes, bug spray, and snacks.
