A tough third quarter doomed Park as the Wolfpack fell in the regular season finale to visiting Hastings 12-11 Friday at Cottage Grove.
Park was scheduled to host Simley on Tuesday in the first round of section play.
Park led Hastings 7-6 after two periods, but the Raiders scored the next five goals for an 11-7 lead and led 11-8 in the third period. The Wolfpack fought back in the fourth after falling behind 12-9 with 4:19 to play. Park scored the next two goals, including a score with 25 seconds left by Zachary Devaan to make it a one-goal game but couldn’t manage a try in the last few seconds.
Bradley Johnson led Park with five goals.
The loss snapped a three-game winning streak by the Wolfpack. Park finished the regular season 6-7 overall and 3-6 in the Suburban East Conference, in eighth place.
Hastings improved to 7-6 on the season.
“I think it just came down to a few things that we need to work on and get ready for sections,” said Park assistant coach Dan Beck. “But it was a good close one, it usually is with Hastings. I think one of the things we did well was we crewed the ball really well, moved the ball up and won the field which was nice. A few things we need to work on – ground balls, specifically off the face-offs, we’re having trouble getting the ball off the ground. And I think our slides were a little late today. And I mean the goalie played a hell of a game but just not finishing on crease.”

Bradley Johnson’s five goals led Park to a 9-1 non-conference win over Bloomington Kennedy/Burnsville Monday at Burnsville.
Zachary Devaan had two goals, Sanuel Reckinger and Jack Carstenbrock one each.
Gavin Sand got the net win, allowing just one goal.
