Arriving in town Dec. 10, the CKPC Holiday Train came to help raise awareness of local food banks and their work, presenting a $10,00 check to Friends in Need Food Shelf of St. Paul Park. Opening the night’s musical performances with the band Breland, a rail company representative soon came out to greet the crowds after a few songs.
“We are so happy to be back here on our 25th anniversary,” they said, with Mayor Bailey agreeing
“I keep hearing from CP rail this is one of the largest stops in their tour.” he said after coming out on the stage to greet event goers. Then turning the microphone over to outgoing St. Paul Park Mayor Sandi Dingle, it wasn’t long before it was time to play the music again, with Canadian country Tenille Townes coming out to entertain.
“Happy Holidays guys, look how many of you there are,” Townes said of the crowd, then singing, ”Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
With more than $2 million dollars raised for hunger since the Holiday Train started, helping ensure that more people have a good meal is as simple as making a donation to the local food pantry.
