SPRING COACHES, OTHER INFORMATION REVEALED IN NON-CONTROVERSIAL ITEMS

Classed in the non-controversial consent agenda, South Washington County Schools, just lost some staff, and also hired new staff , with coaching positions thrown in for good measure. Did we mention electronic fund transfers are also covered in the non-controversial meeting business?

In short, it’s worth more than a sentence.

To be more specific, it’s 63 district employees, with 42 retirements, 17 resignations, and four terminations approved this March—that is, firings. So who’s retiring or just resigning?

A lot of people, in fact, Teachers, principals, paraprofessionals, maintenance, an administrative assistant, a director of teaching and learning, an AVID tutor, and more. Most all of the teachers have a last day worked slated for this coming June, suggesting ordinary retirement plans, while at least one retirement—from Aquatics Coordinator at the District Program Center, has a last day worked listed as November 2, 2020—almost two years ago.

Among the four terminations, meanwhile, are one maintenance person, one paraprofessional, and two nutrition services personnel, for Pine Hill and the District Service Center respectively.

Skipping over the leaves of absence to new hires, meanwhile, the following may be ascertained in terms of spring coaching, for a partial list:

• Ivy Benner as head girls lacrosse coach at Woodbury High

• Daniel Billingsley as girls track and field head coach at Woodbury High

• Chad Borseth as assistant track and field coach at East Ridge High

• Jeffrey Burkhart as assistant girls track and field coach at Woodbury High

• Gary Bystead as assistant boys tennis coach at Woodbury High

• Damion Charpentier as Swim Instructor at the District Program Center

• David Crislip as assistant girls track and field coach at Woodbury High

• Wade Deno as baseball assistant 9th coach at East Ridge High

• Gerald Denson Jr. as track and field sprints coach at East Ridge High

• Gary Diamond as assistant boys track and field coach at Woodbury High

But before we leave you with just a surface view of the inexhaustible wealth of the consent agenda for those who search, there are electronic funds transfers to cover for the district! So what are they, or at least some?

In the first place, there are tax related transfers. Just for the month of February there were two transfers involving the IRS, one on February 15 for $1,506,374.02, along with another for $1,503,119.01. Not to be left out in the mix area state tax agency related transfers, both to the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Revenue, the former in two main installments from February 15 and February 28 each approaching a quarter million, and the latter in decidedly smaller sums from February 15 and February 28, both for a measly $87.50—which reminds us, it’s tax season. Do you have your taxes filed yet?

The deadline for federal is April 18 this year. Penalties can be costly, and the Sixteenth Amendment isn’t due to be repealed anytime soon. It might be time to put down this paper and attend to pressing government imposed obligations—unless you have already.
