Park Legion team outlasts East Ridge

St. Paul Park turned it on late to outlast host East Ridge in American Legion baseball Monday evening.

Park scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to claim a 9-5 win.

The game was tied at 7-up after seven innings. Park used several walks and a double by William Barry to break the game open in the ninth.

Sam Janski started on the mound, while Clayton Beaurline relieved him in the late innings and got the pitching win.

The game, much like the entire season, was an inconsistent, up-and-down affair, said Park coach Matt Doornink.

“Pitching has been hit and miss,” Doornink said. “Offensively we either get a lot hits or not. We’ve got three games left this week to build some momentum for the playoffs.”

Park, now 6-4 on the season, wraps up regular season play this week with games at Apple Valley Wednesday, at Woodbury Thursday and at Burnsville Friday.

The Legion substate playoffs start next week at Burnsville’s Alimagnet Park. Park will find out Sunday when and against which team they will face in the opener.
