Letter to the Editor-Reader support Rebecca A. Waxse

Dear Editor:
This fall, voters in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District have the opportunity to elect a new judge to an open seat. I support Rebecca A. Waxse because she has the experience, judgment, and temperament needed to serve our communities fairly from her first day on the bench.
For nearly twenty years, Rebecca has practiced as both a public defender and private attorney. She has represented clients in criminal, juvenile, child-protection, and family-law matters and has handled more than 10,000 cases. That breadth of experience matters. A district court judge must be prepared to address many different issues, listen carefully, apply the law, and make difficult decisions that affect individuals, families, victims, and communities.
Rebecca’s judicial philosophy is grounded in fairness, integrity, and respect. She believes every person entering a courtroom deserves to be heard, treated with dignity, and judged impartially based on the facts and the law. She also understands that public trust grows when court proceedings are professional, respectful, and explained in plain language.
Having served as Cottage Grove’s City Attorney since 1990, I understand the importance of having judges who are experienced, prepared, and committed to the fair administration of justice. Rebecca’s extensive courtroom experience and commitment to equal justice are why I support her candidacy for this open judicial seat.
