Lets make a difference
First, I am grateful for the return of print media to the local area. I have been depressed since Keith Franke returned to the state houselast November.
That is because he had a history of partisan attacks on-line against House Democrats and Governor Tim Walz when he was not in office. Also, he decided to run for state house after just being elected to the Saint Paul Park City Council the year before. Additionally, he has gone after people who do not support him as ignorant as he once stated all they see is the “D’s and R’s.”
However, Franke has never publicly admitted to Republicans meddling in political elections ten years ago including a very biased redistricting bill that would have essentially gerrymandered all of the local area including himself. He also never admitted that Republican activists did go after Republican legislators who supported a 2008 gas tax bill as three got their endorsements revoked and two more retired who voted for a bill. But now is a time to move forward but, also to still be able to hold politicians accountable. This includes proposing a district that would be very similar to what Republicans wanted in 2011 in the upcoming redistricting plan with Saint Paul’s East Side replacing Cottage Grove in 54a to hold Franke accountable as no Republican has admitted it was wrong in the first place. Thus, I am tearfully excited to write to this paper and write to make a difference. Thank you.
