Park Grove Library featured events for January

All Washington County Library branches will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday. Branches will also be closed Monday, Jan. 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Featured Events Little Innovators: Chugga Chugga Choo Choo Saturday, January 8 Work cooperatively with your child to build a public transit system for your town. For ages 4-6. Registration is required for a one-hour time slot between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. You’ll have an hour to play together before it’s time to reset the space for the next group. Take and Make with Shakun Maheshwari: Mandala Designs Wednesday, January 12 Pick up supplies to complete a Mandala outside the library and learn about Indian culture and celebrations. Mandala is a circular design representing the universe, the elements, and human connection. For ages 5-12. Registration is not required. This program is made possible by COMPAS and funding from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Virtual: Write in Our Midst Diane Wilson Thursday, January 13 from 7 to 8 P.M.

Join us for an evening with Diane Wilson, award winning author, speaker, and editor. Her newest novel, The Seed Keeper, follows Rosalie Iron Wing as she comes of age and faces multiple challenges to preserve her family’s Dakotah way of life. Outdoor Family Storytime at Basil Loveland Park Monday, January 24 from 10 to 10:30 A.M.

Join us to sing, talk, read, write, and play at Basil Loveland Park in Newport. This storytime focuses on concepts such as life skills, counting, colors, emotions, patterns, and kindness. For ages 0-8 and their grown-ups. This storytime will be held outdoors so please dress for the weather. Registration is not required.
