Search Engine Optimization connects your website to the World Wide Web and makes it searchable in Google. This class teaches you SEO principles so that your website can be found effectively. Virtual: Where History Meets Mystery Saturday, October 23 from 2 to 4 P.M.

Join us for an online panel to hear from authors and editors of the anthology Dark Side of the Loon. Authors Michael Allan Mallory, Judy Kerr, Natalie Fowler, and Timya Owen will discuss how historical events have inspired their writing and the challenges of researching our past. Learn how to present your genealogical research at this online workshop. Eleanor Brinsko, MLIS, will address whether you have found all needed information, who is the intended audience, and what is the best format to preserve your research. Registration is required. Virtual Club Book: Kawai Strong Washburn Wednesday, October 27 from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M.

Join Club Book and Washington County Library for a virtual evening with author Kawai Strong Washburn, who lives in Minnesota but hails proudly from the Big Island of Hawai’i. Strong Washburn’s upbringing on the magical Hāmākua Coast inspires and infuses his first fiction novel, Sharks in the Time of Saviors. The book centers on the family of Nainoa Noa Flores, who is blessed with unique abilities by the Islands’ ancient gods. Noa’s powers cause friction within his family even as this gift allows them to consider a future beyond their current lives. Sources as varied as The New York Times, Good Housekeeping, and President Barack Obama have described Sharks in the Time of Saviors as one of the best reads of 2020.

Let’s Make Stuff: Felt Acorns Wednesday, October 27 from 6 to 7:30 P.M.

Let’s Make Stuff is a creative class for adults. Join us at Park Grove Library to learn the basic technique of wet felting and create felt acorns.
