Loyal Readers; please forgive me for making you wait an extra week to know why some “theys” say you should NOT wear white at certain times of the year. I will give you a clue. The happening has not happened lately and we really do need it to happen. Yes, it’s the rain! They say that when it rains and you are wearing white, your white clothes become “see through” and you may be embarrassed. I think it would mainly be dependent on what kind of fabric and if it wraps itself around you like plastic wrap. Men’s standard white shirts probably would only look wet to most people. Women’s shirts might be a bit of a different story, depending on fabric and fit. Your flowered or crazy design underwear (both sexes) might be seen but I don’t think it would be something to die for. Now, I have seen some pretty wild underwear on the males that wear those pants that are what you might call “low hanging”. Could anyone let me know just how they do keep them from totally falling down? I really would like to know.
Somehow we made through a week plus of heat that would be considered good outdoor cooking (us) weather. I will be doing my yearly very important reminder of heat, animals, and children. If you can fry an egg on the blacktop, just think how hot that will be for dogs or kitties to walk on. You may have to employ doggy winter boots again or carry the kitties. The SUPER important heat notice is your vehicles and how hot they can get in next to no time. Every year we hear of both animals and humans who die in hot vehicles, even with the windows cracked open. NEVER LEAVE EITHER IN YOUR SUMMER VEHICLES!
Since the hot weather is not one of my deep loves, my gardening has been on low. I can say that my still broken right little finger is giving me pain and slowing me down. My flowers are in great need of water and the pump on the 50 gallon water transport decided it was a good time to go on a permanent vacation. It was not that hard to track down a new one but removing the old pump began a tool circus, but we finally won that battle. The garden hose attached to the tank is also going to be replaced very soon if it does not stay straight. It thinks it must be the curly fries at Arby’s and that means no water output.
Other home front news is that we replaced 1 bathroom and 3 kitchen windows with custom Marvin windows. Ordinarily, just good news for most people BUT in our house we collect, keep and display just about anything. And believe me, that was a super major happening in our kitchen. Everything on shelves above the windows and on counter tops had to be removed and placed in other rooms. This was just not coffee cups and tins but an antique grocery store scale, commercial coffee grinder and porcelain soda fountain containers. Even the dust ended up giving poundage. Excellent job on the windows and they even came painted in the colors to match the walls and window frames. The installers swept up every ounce of dust they made and not a bad word was said about anything. In and out in less than 5 hours!
We are now back to being cat parents. It’s been about 2 years since Marnie Muffin Monster went to Big Cat Land and we decided that since it will be almost a year before we will actually be going on a cruise, it would be okay. (This hopefully will be our lucky 4th try after 3 cancellations). We said that we would not get another ginger cat like Marnie was, but guess what? Pumpkin Cheddar Crispy Kitty is about a 15 pound, 8 year old ginger cat that needed a new home. Lots of changes in his life and ours. He was not used to guys, will eat only wet food and is not a daytime cat, and likes to be up HIGH. We invested in a cat tower and we will see if that meets his Royal Highness’s likes.
