Lyle M. Biscoe, age 102 of Old Cottage Grove, died peacefully at the family home on Saturday morning, Sept. 30, 2023.

Lyle Milton, the son of Julius W. and Lura (McHattie) Biscoe, was born on April 4, 1921, on the family farm in rural Cottage Grove. Following his country education, Lyle helped his dad on the family farm and cut wood for area farmers. He eventually left to try his hand at other professions including ones from meat cutting to delivering mail, prior to settling at 3M for nineteen years. With his love of farming, Lyle was eventually pulled back to his roots where he began farming in Old Cottage Grove, which is proudly still ran by family today.

On June 10, 1944, Lyle was united in marriage to Agnes E. Gramse at Salem Lutheran Church. They were blessed with six children, and many memories over the years prior to her death on March 1, 1986. After being a widower for a short time, Lyle began dating Emily (Lambrecht) Hunter, who was a longtime friend from his school days, and they were united in marriage on January 31, 1987. Together, they enjoyed dancing, golfing, traveling, playing cards, and spending much time with family and friends. In his free time, Lyle also enjoyed water skiing, wood working, and fishing. He was a longtime member of Old Cottage Grove United Church of Christ where he dedicated countless hours over the years mowing grass and volunteering in many ways. Most recently, Lyle enjoyed the simple things in life, spending time on the farm, being with family, and often enjoyed a good nap.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Agnes; sister, Dorothy Biscoe; and by his nephew, Lee Pruter.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Emily; children, Don (Kathy) Biscoe, Steve (GeorgAnn) Biscoe, Jerry (Joyce) Biscoe, Glen (Kathy) Biscoe, Scott (Cheryl) Biscoe, and Julie (Steven) Groskopf; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; the extended Hunter Family; niece, Kathy Pruter; and by other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Cottage Grove United Church of Christ, with Pastor Bryan Olson officiating. Interment will follow at the Old Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening as well as from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, and to a reception immediately following the graveside prayers on Saturday, all at Cottage Grove United Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, Lyle’s family kindly requests memorials be made to the Cottage Grove United Church of Christ in his memory.
