Medallion found at Pine Tree Pond Park

Posted

The second annual hunt for the Cottage Grove Medallion has officially gotten underway—and also been wrapped up! Posted at 9 a.m. this past Monday to the Cottage Grove Recreation and Ice Arena page was the following initial clue: “A new year! 5 new clues! Riddles to think, not confuse!

Think deep! Imagine the things you could see.

Hot or cold, you must search in any weather. Invite your friends because birds of a feather flock together.

Steady as you go. With this year’s clues, you won’t want to miss.”

Within seven hours it led to the finding of the Medallion. Greg and Diane Thielen located the medallion “just before 4 p.m.,” according to the Cottage Grove Recreation and Ice Arena Facebook page, with Diane sharing the rationale that led her and Greg them to the prize, also via the CG Recreation and Ice Arena Facebook page.

“Our first thoughts…Think deep – deep water/pond, birds of a feather – pond or Mooers Lake, Steady as you go – kayak rental at Hazen Mooers Park. See what you can see – the new scenery with kayaking,” Diane shared, then saying they had rethought the clues after searching the park.

“Think deep – water tower pipes/hill down to water,” she said, adding, “that was the next direction we took.”

Coming to the foothill area of Pine Tree Pond park there was a water tower, somewhat distant from the parking lot. Once at Pine Tree Pond park they thought of the archery stands after remembering the word “miss.” Then starting to search the archery stands, Diane sharing that, “we were both a bit shocked when he found it under one of the a targets.”

Glad to spend the time together, the second annual medallion hunt is already in the books, with Diane thanking Cottage Grove for hosting the medallion hunt.
